Art Study — McKee Botanical Gardens, Vero Beach

Photographed at McKee Botanical Gardens in Vero Beach, Florida, this image was awarded Best Black & White in the 2025 Through the Eye of a Camera juried photography exhibition at the A.E. Backus Museum & Gallery in Fort Pierce — recognition from peers that speaks to what the image achieves technically and artistically.

Set against a rich black background, the monochrome rendering reveals the flower's natural curves and the subtle gradation of petals from deep shadow to luminous highlight — an intimate and sophisticated image that celebrates botanical beauty without sentimentality. It presents particularly well under matte acrylic.

The square format and high-contrast palette make this print a natural fit for minimalist and contemporary interiors. At 30×30″, the lily's detail and tonal depth are fully expressed; the composition holds its own at smaller sizes as a refined accent piece.

Available in three gallery-quality configurations — a giclée print on Hahnemühle Pearl paper mounted on ALDibond in a 0.4" profile artbox frame; a silver halide Ilford print under matte acrylic in a 1" profile artbox frame; or an unframed Ilford Baryta paper print (10×10″ image, 12.36×12.36″ sheet with 1.18" border), all with a 75-year guarantee.
